I am very happy to announce that in September a lovely lady called Ruby Byrne is
coming along to the shop to teach crochet.
I am putting my name down first!
Although I can crochet a very simple stitch I really want to learn how to make flowers,
create Granny Squares and more.
These are just a few pieces of her fine work.

Ruby is a very experienced tutor and runs classes throughout Kent.
The 'Learn to Crochet with Ruby Course' will be held on two consecutive Tuesday evenings -
2nd September and 9 September, 7pm - 9.30pm.
By the end of the first class you will know basic stitches and create a flower,
by the end of the second class you will know how to read a pattern!
The cost for both classes (a total of 5 hours tuition!) is £25.
Tea/coffee and cake included ...of course.
Please note you will need to bring a 5.5mm crochet hook and aran yarn.

Crochet also combines so well with papercraft, I love the idea of placing
crochet flowers on cards and scrapbook pages.

The flowers are gorgeous. Ggrrrr...I wish I was close enough to come along, I would love to be able to make these. Like you I can do the very basic but can't understand the patterns at all. I could really do with this course!

The flowers are gorgeous. It is such a shame I don't live closer - I too can do basic stitches but would love to be able to make flowers and read a pattern. The course would be perfect for me.

Hi Christine. Crocheting is such a lovely hobby and as you say works so well with papercrafting. My friend Wendy ( Spanish Crafter) crochets beautiful flowers and She's kindly given me some to put on my cards. I also sewed one onto a top of mine-looks lovely.

Those little flowers are so beautiful, despite many attempts by my Mum to teach me as a child and young adult, I could never get past basic knitting and could never master crochet, if I loved close to you I'd be giving it another go! Hugs Carole Z X

Aww Christine,if i lived close to you my name would be second on your list, i do know 1 or 2 stitches but that is all and i did manage to make my friends little dog a Mat a couple of years ago that i was proud off,{ no pattern i might add ,they look double dutch to me } i used just 1 stitch all the way along then just came back on myself haha . However to make flowers and Granny blankets and read patterns would be fantastic.

Hi Christine, those flowers and leaves are gorgeous, I learnt to crochet as a little girl and used to make Poncho's. Do you remember those? Little lacy crocheted borders made with very fine thread looks lovely on cards too. Have a lovely day.

Love the crochet flowers!
I learnt to crochet when I was at school in the 50's, we used to do squares,Pot-holders and Tea-cosies!
In the 70's as said by Chris... it was Poncho's, for my daughter. Nice that the old crafts have come back only think I never tried was Lace making !

I used to crochet madly when I was a slip of a girl, but really only learned the basic way to create squares and rectangles. (Knitting on the other hand bored me silly). These little flowers are lovely and certainly would work beautifully on cards and other papercraft projects.

I would love to learn to do it properly, why are you so far away?!

Love the crochet flowers. Had always wanted to learn how to crochet. I've seen lovely patterns in magazines for crochet tops. Wish I lived nearer so I could at least learn the basics.

Crazy at work and a bad cold are my excuses so I have been catching up on your blog this evening and ordered this months charity kit and the gorgeous hearts and cloud embellishments.
